Nicole Bubb, aged 19, joined the Vocational Studies course at Kidderminster College, which has now enabled her to pursue her career in Hairdressing after being accepted on to a Hairdressing course, which she will start this September.
Nicole, who suffers with learning difficulties, had low self-esteem and was lacking in confidence, left Wyre Forest School and wanted to pursue a Hairdressing course at Kidderminster College, but needed more preparation to enable her to join the course.
Couse content can include maths, English, I.T., catering, administration, drama and healthy living, alongside work experience. The Vocational Learning course offers practical experiences, developing life and work skills to assist learners in choosing career paths and preparing them for employment or progression on to higher level courses.
As well as a vocational taster at Brinton’s Park, Nicole also has a part-time job at Hopley’s Farm Shop and is working a few hours a week at a hair salon in Kidderminster, to prepare herself for her new course. Nicole hopes to move on to the Level 2 and 3 Hairdressing course once she has achieved her Level 1.
Nicole says, “I have really enjoyed this course, it has given me excellent support, and lots more confidence. It has also opened more doors for me to do what I wanted which was to start my hairdressing course.”
