This qualification is aimed at those hoping to work as a Teaching Assistant in Schools. You may have little or no experience but must arrange a school placement of 12 hours per week, either on a voluntary or paid basis, for the duration of the course. This may be in a primary or secondary school, however this qualification is not suitable for nurseries. You will learn all aspects of the role of a Teaching Assistant. and how to effectively support children and young people in the classroom environment. Your practice will be assessed by a qualified assessor. The course requires regular attendance at college for one evening per week and the completion of written assignments. GCSE English and Maths are desirable but not essential for the course but they may be a requirement for employment.
