Carpentry and Joinery Level 3 (17/18)

The Carpentry and Joinery Level 3 course is designed for learners intending to build on their successes gained at Level 2. The course will allow learners to learn geometry and apply it to practical and theory sessions. Practical activities will cover the fitting of stairs with returns, traditional cut roofs, raking moulds, kitchen fitting, fitting of studworks and double doors and frames. The course will train you for a role as an advanced practitioner in construction and will allow you to progress into higher education.

  • What will be studied

    • Health, safety and welfare in construction • Carry out first fix flooring and roofing • Carryout second fixing double doors and mouldings • Carryout first fix roofing and stairs • Carryout second fix operations • Set up and use fixed and transportable machinery

  • What are the entry requirements?

    Completion of Level 2 or experience of working within construction

  • Where does this course lead to?

    A career as an advanced practitioner in construction, or progression into higher education.

  • How will this course be delivered?

    3 days week, the course will be practical and classroom based classes, with tutorial, English and maths classes and work placement (we will help with this but the student has to obtain own work placement)

  • How will I be assessed?

    You will complete the units identified through formal assessment consisting of both on-line and paper based exams. All practical work will be assessed and graded by staff delivering the practical elements.

  • How to get a place?

    On-line application, followed by interview.

    Safety footwear is required, we will supply additional PPE
