Information Technology For The Workplace 2 (17/18)

The course has been designed to provide a good understanding of Information Technology and its uses. The focus of the Level 2 Information and Creative Technology course is on the more creative aspects of using IT including units on Graphics, Website Design and Multimedia. Alongside this there are also mandatory units on Working in the IT Industry and Communicating in the IT Industry which give you the opportunity to develop your personal skills and look at employment opportunities within the IT sector showing how you can develop your skills to get that dream job. You will be expected to design and think creatively and be prepared to develop your communication skills in a variety of ways.

  • What will be studied
    You will be studying a 7 units over 1 academic year to obtain the Diploma focusing on the creative side of the IT industry. The units you will be studying are: Working in the IT Industry Communicating in the IT Industry Computer Systems Website Design Computer Graphics Multimedia Design Customising Software Maths and English will also be studied alongside the main programme.
  • What are the entry requirements?
    To apply for a place on this popular course, you need to hold at least 4 GCSEs including English Language at Grade ‘D’. You should be able to work in a team as well as work independently. An interview is required as well as a suitable reference.
  • Where does this course lead to?
    Level 3 Diploma in Technology, Computing and E-Systems Level 3 Diploma in Computer and Networking Technicians Level 3 Diploma in Games Design and Development You will need to achieve a merit or above on your Level 2 course in order to progress onto a level 3 course.
  • What qualifications will be gained?
    At the end of the 1 year programme, you will achieve a OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma in IT
  • How will this course be delivered?
    The course is delivered through different tasks, which you work through. You will be taught through presentations, practical demonstrations, 1:1 support and tutorials.
  • How will I be assessed?
    Assessment is via practical assignments, course work, presentations and class work in each unit. You will be awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction on successful completion of each unit.
  • How to get a place?
    Places on the course are offered by meeting entry requirements, providing a suitable reference and attending an interview.
  • Other Information:
    No fees are payable but you should have a memory stick to back up your work. Work related experience activities will take place throughout the year.
