Public Services is an aspect of everyday life –Police, Fire, Paramedics, Armed Forces and Prison and Probation services. Our courses provide the perfect foundation for you to embark on your future career in Public Services. This is the second year of the course and continues to develop the skills obtained in year 1.This course will build on the range of high level work and life skills from the first year, leadership, teamwork, problem solving and decision making and ensure you are prepared you for your chosen career within the Public service sector. You will be given further opportunities to visit working public service establishments seek advice regarding the best career choice for you. All your tutors have Public Service experience and will support you throughout your course.
What will be studied
You will continue to study a wide range of content all designed to prepare you for life in the workplace, this includes responding to emergency Incidents, Major Incident planning, Custodial care, communication and expedition and water based skills. You will receive tutorials covering aspects such as safeguarding, British values and diversity.
What are the entry requirements?
To apply for a place on this highly popular course, you need to hold at least 4 GCSEs or equivilant at grade \\\\\\\'C\\\\\\\' or above, preferably including English and Maths. You should be able to work as part of a team as well as being independent and willing to experience and explore new things.

What qualifications will be gained?
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services
(on completion of year 2)
This is equivalent to 3 full A levels.
How will this course be delivered?
The course is delivered over 3 days through different methods including presentations, practical actiity and demonstrations, 1:1 support and tutorials and group work. Extended hours will be required when attending day visits and residential trips.
How will I be assessed?
You must complete 18 units in order to achieve the Extended Diploma qualification ( 8 Units will be completed in the first year programme)
There are 5 core units which will be completed in the first year, the second year of study on the Extended Diploma covers another 9
Assessment is via continual assessment using practical assignments, physical tasks, course work, presentations and class work in each unit. You will be awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade for each completed Unit.
How to get a place?
Places on the course are offered by completing year 1of the course achieving the 90 credit diploma or meeting entry requirements, and course interview with one of the tutors for the two year course.
During the second year it is proposed that you will engage in a European residential to experience Public Service life outside the UK and gain cultural awareness and skills from a different prospective. Numerous day visits to public service establishments and Fitness and outdoor activities form another aspect of the course. Course fees of £250 and a course polo shirt and Hoodie are required to be purchased from our on line supplier if not purchased in year 1.
