This course will give you further understanding of the skills and knowledge required to work in a motor vehicle workshop. You will look at various systems on the car and how they interact with each other.
Course content includes Health and safety, tools and equipment, chassis, engine, transmission and electrics. Maths and English will also be studied alongside the course.
You will be required to have an appropriate Level 1 Motor Vehicle qualification. An interview is required as well as a suitable reference.
Level 3 Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or an apprenticeship. You will need to pass this year of the course to progress onto the third year.
Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles
The course is delivered through different tasks, you will be taught through presentations, practical demonstrations, 1:1 support and tutorials. You will have to pass practical activities as well as on line exams. Each unit also includes a short written assignment.
Assessment is via practical assignments, course work, presentations and class work in each unit plus on line exams.
Places on the course are offered by meeting entry requirements, providing a suitable reference and attending an interview.
You will need to provide your own PPE, steel toe capped foot wear and suitable overalls will be required.
