Transport Maintenance – Light Vehicle Level 1 (17/18)

This course will give you a good understanding of the skills and knowledge required to work in a motor vehicle workshop. In the first year you will be introduced to the various components of the car. You will also look at green technology and how to become a driver.

  • What will be studied

    Course content includes Health and safety, tools and equipment, brakes, tyres, steering and engines. Maths and English will also be studied alongside the course.

  • What are the entry requirements?

    There are no formal entry requirements, however an interview is required as well as a suitable reference.

  • Where does this course lead to?

    Level 2 Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. You will need to pass the first year of the course to progress on to the second year.

  • What qualifications will be gained?

    Level 1 Diploma in Transport Maintenance – Light Vehicle

  • How will this course be delivered?

    The course is delivered through different tasks, you will be taught through presentations, practical demonstrations, 1:1 support and tutorials. You will have to pass practical activities as well as on line exams. Each unit also includes a short written assignment.

  • How will I be assessed?

    Assessment is via practical assignments, course work, presentations and class work in each unit plus on line exams.

  • How to get a place?

    Places on the course are offered by meeting entry requirements, providing a suitable reference and attending an interview.

  • Other Information:

    You will need to provide your own PPE, steel toe capped foot wear and suitable overalls will be required.

  • Exam Board:

    Level 2 Diploma in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
