DJ and Electronic Music Production Level 3 Extended

The Level 3 Extended Diploma in DJ & Electronic Music Production is a highly popular, industry-led course, which offers learners the opportunity to develop the skillset and knowledge to work within the world of electronic music and DJ technology.

The programme covers all aspects of electronic music production and DJ culture, using state-of-the-art equipment, giving you access to 3 iMac Music Production Suites and two professional digital recording studios. .

 

  • What will be studied

    Course content includes composing electronic music, music sequencing, digital recording, remixing & production, DJ Culture & Technology, studio sound recording & mixing, using dynamic processors & multi effects, composing for film and planning for a career in music.

    You will use a variety of resources, both hardware and software, from a range of manufacturers including Apple, Steinberg, Native Instruments, EMU, Korg, Pioneer, Technics and Tascam. DJ skills will be developed during the course using our course dedicated DJ Suite, offering Pioneer CDJ850s, Pioneer DJM700 Mixer, Technics SL1210 turntables, and Native Instruments Traktor, the digital vinyl system that is used extensively by DJs all over the world.

  • What are the entry requirements?

    5 GCSEs at grade 4 (formerly grade C) or above, which should ideally include English and Maths, alternatively completion of a Level 2 qualification in the subject area, with an overall Merit profile. A passion for the subject and the potential to work independently and with others, is essential. You will need to attend an interview and an audition or present a portfolio of work appropriate to the subject area. During this process, individual circumstances where learners do not fully meet the entry requirements may be considered.

    The course gives you the opportunity to develop the skills required to gain employment in the music industry, become a professional music producer and/or DJ, or progress onto higher education.

  • What qualifications will be gained?

    Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma for Music Practitioners (1 Year)

    Progression to year 2 is dependent on successful completion of year 1

    Level 3 Extended Diploma for Music Practitioners (2 Year)

  • How will this course be delivered?

    The course is run across four days.

  • How will I be assessed?

    There is a strong emphasis on practical work. A large number of the units are assessed practically with elements of written essays, reports, presentations and 1-2-1 tutor assessments.
