Level 3 Diploma in Cyber Security in Information Technology

If Information Technology and Computing is your aspiration then this is the course for you. This course has been designed to develop a range of high level skills in emerging technology. The focus of the Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Information Technology is on developing knowledge and understanding of current uses and developments such as Using Social Media in Business, Cyber Security and Incident Management, Programming and Mobile Apps Development.

Alongside this, you have the opportunity to develop your personal and transferable skills, including communication, teamwork, research and analysis.

You will be expected to generate ideas and bring them to fruition during your time here. Work related experience activities will also take place throughout the year.

  • What will be studied

    You will study 6 units over 1 academic year to obtain the Foundation Diploma focusing on developing your knowledge of the computing Industry. The units you will also be studying include:

    • Creating Systems to manage Information
    • Programming
    • Using  Social Media in Business
    • Cyber Security and Incident Management
    • IT Service Delivery
  • What are the entry requirements?

    To apply for a place on this exciting new course, you need to hold at least 5 GCSEs including English Language and Maths at Grade 5 or above. You should also be able to work in a team and work independently.

    An interview is required as well as a suitable reference.

  • Where does this course lead to?

    On completion of this qualification, you can progress on to the second year of the course.

  • What qualifications will be gained?

    At the end of the 1 year programme, you will achieve a Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Information Technology (90 Credit), equivalent to 1.5 A Levels.

  • How will this course be delivered?

    The course is delivered through different tasks, which you work through. You will be taught through presentations, practical demonstrations, 1:1 support and tutorials.

  • How will I be assessed?

    Assessment will be via assignments, course work and presentations. There will also be externally assessed units for specified units. You will be awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction on successful completion of each unit.
