Music Performance and Production Level 1 (17/18)

If you have a passion for music performance and/or production but maybe don’t have the experience or the grades, then this qualification is for you. This course is an ideal introduction to the skills and attributes you will need for a career within the music industry. This 1 year course will enable you to study a vocational subject in a practical and hands-on way. While on this course, you will not only benefit from subject specialist tutors who are experts in their fields but also from highly trained additional learning support embedded within class where appropriate to ensure you reach your full potential.

  • What will be studied

    A wide range of units will be studied over the 2 years, including: Music Performance Music Sequencing Digital Recording & Production Planning for a Career in Music Setting up a Music Event Listening to Music

  • What are the entry requirements?

    No prior qualifications are needed, though a passion for the subject and the potential to work well with others is essential.

    You will need to attend an interview and an audition or present a portfolio of work as appropriate to the subject area.

  • Where does this course lead to?

    Any of the three Foundation Music pathways, be it Performance; Studio Recording or DJ & Production.

  • What qualifications will be gained?

    Rockschool Level 1 Diploma in Music

  • How will this course be delivered?

    The course is run for 3 days a week.

  • How will I be assessed?

    There is a high emphasis on practical work. Written work might be included but will be kept to a minimum. Presentations, performances and composed work will be the main element of assessment.
