Music Performance and Production Level 2

If you have a passion for music, this qualification provides you with a solid grounding, preparing you to pursue one of our Level 3 Music pathways.

The course will enable you to study a vocational subject in a practical and hands-on way. Once completed, and if you are committed and persistent throughout the course, you will acquire the various skills that will provide the necessary foundations to not only be accepted onto the Level 3 Music pathways, but to hit the ground running with a large amount of skill and ability.

 

  • What will be studied

    A wide range of units will be studied over the 2 years, giving you a solid grounding to progress to Level 3.

  • What are the entry requirements?

    4 GCSEs at grade 3 (formerly grade D) or above, which should ideally include Maths and English, or completion of a Level 1 course. A passion for the subject and the ability to work with others is essential. You will need to attend an interview and an audition, or present a portfolio of work appropriate to the subject area. Individual circumstances where learners do not fully meet the entry requirements may be considered.

  • Where does this course lead to?

    Many of our learners progress onto the Level 3 Music pathways be it Performance, Technology or DJ & Production. Course related careers include those such as Performer, DJ, Music Manager, Sound Engineer, Composer and Songwriter.
     

  • What qualifications will be gained?

    RSL Level 2 Subsidiary Diploma in Music

  • How will this course be delivered?

    The course is run over 4 days a week.

  • How will I be assessed?

    There is a strong emphasis on practical work. A large number of the units are assessed practically with elements of written essays, reports, presentations and 1-2-1 tutor assessments.
