Music Performance and Production Level 2 (17/18)

Choose a pathway from; Performance, Studio Recording or DJ & Production and you will be given a tailor-made course to put you on the right track for Level 3 learning. If you have a passion for music performance and/or production but maybe don’t have the experience or the grades for Level 3, then this qualification is for you. This course provides solid grounding for learners who, for whatever reasons, are not quite ready for one of our Level 3 Music pathways. This 1 year course will enable you to study a vocational subject in a practical and hands-on way. Once completed, and if learners are committed and persistent throughout the course, they will acquire the various skills that will provide the necessary foundations to not only be accepted onto the Level 3 Music pathways, but to hit the ground running with a large amount of skill and ability.

  • What will be studied

    A wide range of units will be studied over the 2 years, including: Music Performance Music Sequencing Digital Recording & Production Planning for a Career in Music Setting up a Music Event Listening to Music

  • What are the entry requirements?

    4 GCSE’s at grade 3 (formally grade D) or above, which should ideally include English and/or Mathematics. Alternatively you should have successfully completed a level 1 programme in the subject area. Mature learners will be considered on an individual basis. A passion for the subject and the ability to work well with others is essential.

    You will need to attend an interview and an audition or present a portfolio of work as appropriate to the subject area. During this process individual circumstances where learners do not fully meet the entry requirements may be considered.

    Any of the three Level 3 Music pathways be it Performance; Studio Recording or DJ & Production.

    Rockschool Level 2 Subsidiary Diploma in Music

  • How will this course be delivered?

    The course is run for 4 days a week.

  • How will I be assessed?

    There is a high emphasis on practical work. Written work might be included but will be kept to a minimum. Presentations, performances, composed work and group work will be the main element of assessment.
