The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Performance is a highly popular, industry-lead course, which offers learners the opportunity to develop the skillset and knowledge to work within music industry. Learners study under industry specialist staff, who have many years experience in writing, performing, recording and releasing music in a wide range of genres and our staff are currently professionally active. Working in the music industry today requires a wide range of skills and many professional musicians are successful because they are competent in multiple areas of the industry. Our course recognises this and as well as studying performance and technique classes to improve your instrumental or vocal abilities, you will also study Music History, Music Business and Music Production. The Level 3 Extended Diploma Music Performance is aimed at learners of all ages and levels of experience that have ability or experience in Music Performance. You will be expected to perform in different genres such as Rock; Pop; Prog; Folk; Acoustic; Electronic etc. Creativity is actively encouraged and supported and we expect our learners to be able to work both independently and with others, forming different bands depending on the needs of your performances. During your time with us you will study across our dedicated music performance and practice suites and two professional Digital Recording Studios.

5 GCSE’s at grade 4 (formally grade C) or above, which should ideally include English and/or Mathematics. Alternatively you should have successfully have completed a level 2 programme in the subject area with an overall Merit profile. Mature learners will be considered on an individual basis. A passion for the subject and the potential to work well independently and the ability to work well with others is essential.
You will need to attend an interview and an audition or present a portfolio of work as appropriate to the subject area. During this process individual circumstances where learners do not fully meet the entry requirements may be considered.
Many of our learners progress on to our HND Performance or onto other University courses.

The course is run across four days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with Wednesdays off
There is a high emphasis on practical work. A large number of the units are assessed practically with elements of written essays, reports, presentations and 1-2-1 tutor assessments.
The course can be studied as a 1 year 90 credit subsidiary, which can allow mature students (19+) a quicker entry route onto our HND in Creative Music Technology.
