Music Production and Technology Level 2

The Level 2 Diploma in Music Production and Technology is a new addition to the qualifications offered by the Creative Industries department at Kidderminster College. If you have a passion for music production and technology but maybe don’t have the experience or the grades for Level 3, then this qualification is for you. The course provides solid grounding for learners who, for whatever reasons, are not quite ready for one of our Level 3 Music pathways.

The course will enable you to study a vocational subject in a practical and hands-on way, acquiring the various skills that will provide the necessary foundations to not only be accepted onto the Level 3 Music pathways, but to hit the ground running with a large amount of skill and ability.

You will study across our three iMac Music Production Suites and two professional Digital Recording Studios. We are an approved Steinberg Training Centre and are able to offer a wide variety of resources from industry standard manufacturers such as; Apple, Steinberg, Native Instruments, EMU, Korg, Yamaha and Tascam.

  • What will be studied

A wide range of units will be studied over the two years, including live sound for concert and theatre, music sequencing, using keyboards, digital recording & production, analogue synthesis, studio sound recording & mixing, using dynamic processors & multi effects, composing for film, music careers and setting up a music business.

  • What are the entry requirements?

4 GCSEs at grade 3 (formerly grade D) or above, which should ideally include Maths and English, or completion of a Level 1 course. A passion for the subject and the ability to work with others is essential.
