Public Services Level 2 (17/18)

This course is designed to provide a good understanding of the Public Services Sector and requirements needed for you to gain employment in your chosen sector. You will be given opportunities to visit working public service establishments and seek advice regarding the best career choice for you. All your tutors have Public Service experience and will support you throughout your course.

  • What will be studied
    You will study all aspects of Public Service life including Responding to Emergency Incidents, Police Powers, fitness training, outdoor activities and career planning. You will receive tutorials covering aspects such as safeguarding, British values and diversity.
  • What are the entry requirements?
    To apply for a place on this highly popular course, you need to hold at least 4 GCSEs or equivalent at grade D-E. You should be able to work as part of a team as well as being independent and willing to experience and explore new things.
  • Where does this course lead to?
    Level 3 Diploma in Public Services Level 3 Diploma in Sport Outdoor Adventure Employment in the Public Sector
  • What qualifications will be gained?
    BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Public Services
  • How will this course be delivered?
    The course is delivered over 3 days through different methods including presentations, practical actiity and demonstrations, 1:1 support and tutorials and group work. Extended hours will be required when attending day visits and residential trips.
  • How will I be assessed?
    You must complete 7 units and assessment is via continual assessment using practical assignments, physical tasks, course work, presentations and class work in each unit. You will be awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade for each completed Unit.
  • How to get a place?
    Apply online. Places on the course are offered by meeting entry requirements, and course interview with one of the tutors.
  • Other Information:
    17 hours weekly course hours including Maths and English, plus any additional hours required during visits and residential trips. A course polo shirt and hoodie are required to be purchased from our on line supplier. Gym Kit is also required.
