Sport Level 2

The Level 2 Diploma in Sport is designed to provide a good understanding of the sports industry and the variety of careers available. You will receive information of the requirements needed for you to gain employment in your chosen sector. You will also be given opportunities to visit and partake in a variety of sporting activities at various providers.

You will study all aspects of sport including principles of anatomy, fitness training, team and individual sports, lifestyle and nutrition of an athlete and assessing risk in sport. You will also receive tutorials covering aspects such as safeguarding, British values and diversity.

Successful completion of the course will give you the opportunity to progress on to a Level 3 Course in Sport and Exercise Science, Outdoor Adventure or Public Services, or to pursue employment in the sports sector.

  • What will be studied

  • What are the entry requirements?

    To apply for a place on this highly popular course, you need to hold at least 4 GCSEs or equivalent at grade 3-2 (formerly D-E) or above. You should be able to work as part of a team as well as being independent and willing to experience and explore new things.

  • Where does this course lead to?

    Progression to Level 3 courses in Sport and Exercise Science, Sport and Outdoor Adventure or Public Services.

    Employment in the sports sector.

  • What qualifications will be gained?

    OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Sport

  • How will this course be delivered?

    The course is delivered over 3 days through different methods including presentations, practical actiity and demonstrations, 1:1 support and tutorials and group work. Extended hours will be required when attending day visits and residential trips.

  • How will I be assessed?

    You must complete all required units and assessment is via continual assessment using practical assignments, physical tasks, course work, presentations and class work in each unit. All units will be internally and externally moderated. You will be awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade for each completed unit.
