The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception and administrative duties which include registering patients, booking appointments, ensuring all information is managed correctly, filed and followed up accordingly. Key duties will involve:

  • As directed, undertake a work programme in the reception and administration team to develop practical skills and knowledge of the role of a receptionist
  • Deal with general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments
  • Using your own judgment and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner
  • Explain procedures to new patients registering at the practice
  • Make and receive telephone calls as required
  • Divert calls and take messages
  • Enter patient information onto the system
  • Filing, sending out mail to patients, photocopying and opening post
