Our Level 3 qualification is designed to provide you with a high standard of technical, creative and performance training. All of our dancers become proficient in ballet, contemporary, urban, commercial, heels, jazz, tap, choreography, improvisation, performance and safe dance practice. During your studies you will work alongside our expert staff, who are outstanding practitioners who still work professionally within the industry.

You will study a variety of units over 2 academic years to obtain your Extended Diploma.
You will participate in at least 3 performances a year within our own theatre. Other opportunities to perform will also be available throughout the two years.
Year 1 is predominantly focused on 'Technical Development', where you will develop and refine your technical ability and understanding in all styles of dance studied.

Year 2 focuses on 'Applying Technique and Performance skills, where you will undertake additional units to enhance and finesse your skills as a developing artist, whilst preparing for Vocational and University Audition. Units include:
Throughout your two years of training, you will perfect your craft and additional private singing and acting classes are available if you wish to audition for performing arts schools, which will be scheduled outside of your timetable.

Once we have received your application you will then be invited to an audition where you will complete classes in Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz. You will also need to perform a short solo which best showcases your talents. You will then complete a short interview with our course leader.

Our students' study five intensive days a week 9-5 at IGNITE Dance Centre Kidderminster College within our specialised dance studios. Compulsory evening rehearsals will be timetabled during show terms and busy periods, at the discretion of the course leader students often perform in competitions and youth dance platforms over some weekends.
Classes generally run between 9am-5pm but may vary. Timetables will be given to all students during enrolment and induction week.
You will be assessed within every practical lesson after a 12 week period. Each class is designed to gradually build your technical development and understanding. You will then undergo a practical assessment in front of an invited audience and your dance lecturers under exam conditions.
Each practical lesson has a theoretical strand attached to it, in order to deepen your understanding into the technique practiced and how to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses.
Essays are spread throughout the year to avoid the stress of being overloaded with work.
Once you have applied you will be invited to one of our 4 auditions over the year.
During your audition you will undergo classes in Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz. You will also be required to perform a short solo that best showcases your talents. The final aspect of the audition will see you completing a short interview with our course leader. You will then hear from us within two working weeks to inform you on the success of the audition.
Some dancers may be awarded a place on our Level 2 course if we believe you are not ready to train on the Level 3.
The course is absolutely free! However, there are other costs involved whilst studying on the course.
As we run our course in a vocational manner and conform to industry standards there is a set uniform for each discipline studied. The uniform list will be sent out once you have gained your place with us at Ignite, allowing you plenty of time to purchase your uniform.
We aim to provide learners with workshops throughout the year. Each workshop will be led by industry professionals and within each style of dance, usually costing around £6.
