Early Years Educators (Childcare) Diploma – Level 2

• What will be studied

  This course will provide you with detailed knowledge of caring for children. You will cover:

  • How to safeguard children
  • The theoretical principles of child development
  • The importance of play and learning
  • Pivotal health and safety
  • Preparation of safe environments for children and young people.

  Placement experience is a compulsory part of the course and provides the practical skills needed to work with children. Carers will need to undertake two days per week assessed work experience in a variety of early year's settings, arranged by the college.

• What are the entry requirements?

  In order to be considered for this popular qualification, you must:

  • Have four GCSE's - including English - at a grade of 3 or above
  • Alternatively, have passed Level 1 of this course or hold an equivalent qualification
  • You will need to complete an interview task
  • Have a strong work ethic
  • Have excellent people skills
  • A caring nature
  • You will also need to pass a DBS check

   

   

• Where does this course lead to?

  Completion of this Level 2 Diploma will open up an array of progression routes, such as:

  • Moving on to Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care
  • Progression onto our HND Early Years Education

  Or alternatively, completion of this qualification will allow you to take your first step onto the career ladder as an:

  • Nursery Manager

  • Education consultant 

  • Family support worker 

  • Health play specialist 

  • Play therapist 

  • Early years teacher 

  • Primary school teacher 

  • Special educational needs coordinator (SENCO) 

  • Special educational needs teacher

• What qualifications will be gained?

  Completion of this intensive course will allow you to gain the a CACHE Certificate CYPW Diploma Level 2.

  You will be required to pay for your DBS check, which will be essential for your career, and for a college uniform.

  Additionally, whilst studying on the course we would expect you to bring equipment to classes to assist with completing lesson tasks, such as;
