Hairdressing Diploma – Level 3

• What will be studied

  This Level 3 Diploma covers many advanced aspects of working within the hair industry; modules will include:

  • Researching fashion forward trends in the hair industry
  • Create a collection of hairstyles looks
  • Use and adapt a range of technical skills to create a collection of hairstyles looks
  • Present a collection of hair loos
  • Smoothing and Strengthening
  • Client Consultation
  • Creative Colour conversion
  • Advanced colour conversion
  • Colouring products
• What are the entry requirements?

  All under 19's are required to have the following:-

  • 4 of more GCSE's at grade F or above
  • Hairdressing Diploma Level 2 qualification
  • A good standard of education

  All candidates are required to have:-

  • A strong work ethic
  • Excellent people skills
  • Provide a suitable reference
• Where does this course lead to?

  Completion of this course will allow hairdressers to become eligible to become a State Registered Graduate Hairdresser (SRH) with The Hairdressing Council.

  Whilst this qualifications primary purpose is to prepare learners for a senior hairdressing/stylist role, learners may choose to further develop their knowledge and skills by undertaking Advanced Specialist qualifications at Level 4, including:-

  • VTCT Salon Management Diploma Level 4
  • A1 Assessor Award
  • Teacher Training Certificate.

  As mentioned above, we are extremely proud of the fact that after completing this course, 100% of our learners have gone into employment as from 2017.

• What qualifications will be gained?

  At the end of this one year study period you will gain a Hairdressing Diploma Level 3 qualification

• How will this course be delivered?

  Lectures will be a mix of theoretical and practical work

  You will be taught through presentations, practical demonstrations, independent work, 1:1 support, tutorials and group critiques.

  As with Level 1 and 2 of this qualification, a work placement will feature as part of this course, this will run for one complete week and will be organised by Kidderminster College.

   A work placement is essential in the hair industry, allowing you to experience what it is truly like to be 'on the job', to learn from your colleagues and to perfect your skill and confidence.

  You will also be working under supervision within our awarding-winning Elements salon which is on-site at our main Kidderminster College campus.

  Work placements and work experience at Kidderminster College is designed so that you are able to build both your confidence and skills to that you will be able to work effortlessly within the industry.

  You will get a chance to enter external competitions and really show-off your skills in both a regional and national setting.

• How will I be assessed?

  Due to the high standard of this course, the assessments for this qualification will be carried out on real, playing clients in line with commercial service times.
